Hidden beyond the Veil of Hints and Highlights

Hidden Beyond the Veil of Hints and Highlights By Martin Hanley

Her eyes, bite deeply, tasting your insular thoughts
With surrendered lips that curve to reveal a dark welcoming vessel.
And spirals like flames search a foreign shore for a lost light.
Pupils flashing black then indigo, thundering with white light.
The vocal coach remains hidden, forever thinking and out of sight.

Her eyes, bite deeply, tasting your insular thoughts
Remembering a thousand others who lie hidden beyond the veil of hints and highlights.
Guilty with sometime pleasures she offers a glimpse to only a few.
A time she set in stone, immortal was primal once and now is something new.
Her cloaked belief in endless ritual is lost in moments in a world where nothing’s true.

Her eyes, bite deeply, tasting your insular thoughts
Treading an Attic shore lined with fallen gardens and lime washed walls.
The waves her only certainty now, they wash all traces away.
Nothing ever remains except a well-worn memory of distant ice, still burning and a heart that’s caged, forever yearning.
