I asked Martin why he wrote and this is the answer he gave me:

Why do I write?

There is a sense of passion in a story when it comes alive…especially when you witness this happening, because you are the one writing it. I feel that the blood running through my veins has found a purpose and a voice. I write when I’m in love and when I’m alone – I write to find a way to absorb the pain of living and to let it go. I write because we need to leave our comfort zones and take journeys; even imaginary ones that help us stay alive.

When you write you are never alone. Not just because the words will always comfort you, but because there will always be someone who will find their way through them to you. So, I suppose the bottom line is, I write because I don’t know any other way to survive. Martin Hanley.

  1. When you write you are never alone. Not just because the words will always comfort you, but because there will always be someone who will find their way through them to you. Had to come back to this it so resonates with my writing. Nicely put!
